Breaking into IB / Sell-Side from Engineering—anyone else doing this?
Hey guys! Quick question for those who transitioned or are currently trying to break into Investment Banking or Equity Research from a non-finance background like Civil Engineering.
How are you framing your technical experience on your resume? I’ve been pitching my cost estimation, site budgeting, and risk assessment as line-item financial modeling and technical due diligence—especially for asset-heavy groups like Infrastructure and Real Estate. It seems to resonate, but I’d love to hear how others are bridging the gap on technicals and accounting prep.
Anyone else taking this route right now, or have tips on how you pitched your background to recruiters?
