First-time camper in the North Bay looking for beginner-friendly NorCal campgrounds & tips

Hi everyone! I’m in the North Bay and want to go on my very first camping trip this summer. I’ll be car camping with a tent and have basically no camping experience.

I’m looking for beginner-friendly campgrounds in Northern California, preferably within a few hours’ drive. One thing that makes me nervous is bears, so I’d really appreciate recommendations for campgrounds that feel safe for first-timers and any advice on bear safety.

I’d also love tips on:

Essential gear
Food storage and cooler tips
Easy camp meals
Campsite etiquette
Mistakes to avoid
Any camping hacks you wish you knew when you started

Thanks so much! I’m excited to try camping but definitely a little intimidated.

Beginner trying body recomposition. How do you make sure you hit your protein goals every day?

I’m pretty new to the gym and trying to learn more about body recomposition (losing fat while building muscle). Over the last 3 months I lost about 15 lbs mainly from changing my eating habits, especially switching my lunches to lower carb meals like salads with protein. Now that I’m starting to work out consistently, I want to focus more on building muscle and toning while continuing to lose fat.

One thing I’m struggling with is figuring out how to consistently get enough protein every meal/day without overcomplicating everything. Do you guys track protein closely, meal prep, use protein shakes, or just estimate?

Also, what are some important things beginners should know about body recomposition? There’s so much conflicting advice online that I’m still trying to figure out what actually works long term and what’s realistic. Any beginner tips for workouts, nutrition, recovery, or consistency would help a lot.

How do people stay consistent with the gym when work drains all your energy and mornings aren’t an option?

I’ve lost about 15 lbs so far just from improving my eating habits, and now I want to take the next step and start exercising to build muscle and tone up.

The problem is consistency. I’m exhausted after work, so going to the gym after my shift feels really hard. Morning workouts aren’t ideal either because I rely on the bus schedule to get to work, so I don’t have much flexibility there.

For people who stay consistent with the gym long-term, how do you actually manage it when you’re tired or don’t feel motivated? Do you have routines, habits, or mindset shifts that helped you stick with it?

I’m trying to build something sustainable instead of forcing motivation every day.

Any advice would be appreciated.
