How could i modify food values without Mixins?

I've been trying to modify vanilla foods' hunger restoration and saturation values for my mod for two weeks and honestly i'm more lost than before. I'm new at modding and coding (i'd say i got fair enough java knowledge by now though) so, if you can help me, talk to me as i'm stupid.

i'been learning piano for something like a month and i'm concern about the idea of developing bad habits. i've watched several videos of correct hands posture and although i´ve seen improvements i still feel my hands tense, specially my left hand. So i would appreciate some feedback and advises on how i could work on this
