After just having replayed Ruby again for another look at their exclusive Pokemon, it really reminded me on just how much Emerald actually improved the Hoenn region.
The biggest ones are probably the bag managment. But it is also kind of wild just how few double battles are in Ruby and Sapphire and how ALL need to be started by the player. Plus the trainer battles in general being much more boring. A ton of teams have been improved in Emerald.
Ruby and Sapphire still have some small advantages over Emerald imo, like some better tile sets and Steven as a Champion. But yeah, imo there is very little reason to not just play Emerald. It is almost objectively the better game.
