PGWP REFUSED! Due to transcript issue ||Reconsideration Request approved.

I’m sharing this because I want to give hope to anyone who feels like their future is over after a refusal. If you are right and you made an honest mistake, you can fight it—but you have to be smart about who you trust.

The Initial Errors: Check Every Single Page
My refusal happened because of two simple, avoidable mistakes:

1 The Half-Printed Document: My college provided a transcript that was only half-printed. I didn’t notice the missing information and uploaded it as-is.

2 The "Submit" Trap: When IRCC requested a new transcript, I uploaded the file until the button turned green. I thought I was done. I didn’t realize I had to digitally sign and click "Submit" again.
My application sat as "Uploaded" for two days past the deadline, so the officer never officially received it.

Important: Before you click anything, read every page of your documents to ensure they aren't cut off. And never leave the portal until you have a confirmation of transmission.

The Agency Experience: Don't Let Them Take Your Money. When I got my refusal, I was depressed and desperate. I went to an immigration agency for help, and my experience was a wake-up call.

They saw my situation—knowing I was out of status and stressed about my loans—and tried to take advantage of me.

They insisted I had to pay for both a reconsideration request AND a restoration of status (since my study permit had expired in September 2025). It felt like they were just trying to "snatch" as much money as possible while I was down.

My Advice: Many agencies are there just to make money. If you are in a serious legal bind, go to a licensed immigration lawyer. I found a lawyer who gave me a free consultation and honestly told me I could handle the reconsideration myself. She guided me on how to convince the officer that it was a genuine mistake. She saved my future without trying to drain my bank account.

The Timeline of My Case

May 19, 2025: Applied for my PGWP.
Feb 19, 2026: Received a request for a new transcript from IRCC.
Feb 20, 2026: Uploaded document (but failed to "Submit" it officially).
March 1, 2026: Received the Refusal Letter.
March 3, 2026: Applied for Reconsideration and called IRCC to confirm they had the files.
May 1, 2026: Contacted my local MP to request a follow-up on the file.
May 12, 2026: SUCCESS! Reconsideration approved and my file was reopened.
Final Words of Advice

Double-check everything: Look at every document for printing errors.
Verify with IRCC: After you submit a requested document, call them. They can tell you within 2–3 minutes if the file is actually attached to your application.
Be your own advocate: No one cares about your file as much as you do. Write a sincere reconsideration request, provide proof of your honest mistake, and don't be afraid to ask your MP for a follow-up.
If you are innocent and proactive, the system will listen.
