I absolutely adore horror and respect the fact that I might be desensitized to being actually scared by them at this point. I watch one basically every night and have for years now. Healthy behavior? Debatable. Economical compared to therapy? Absolutely.

Still, I keep chasing that rare feeling when a movie genuinely gets under your skin, catches you off guard, and follows you into bed afterward when the lights are off and your brain suddenly decides every shadow in the room is “probably fine.”

The movies that have hit me hardest so far are The Grudge (2004), Shutter (Thai), Halloween, The Blair Witch Project, The Descent, It Follows, and Hereditary. So honestly, almost every style works for me except excessive gore for the sake of it.

I’m looking for the scariest movies you’ve personally seen. The ones that genuinely disturbed you, stayed in your head for days, or made you feel deeply uncomfortable in the best way possible.
