Haven't opened my IDE in months & I don't know what to make of that
I just realised that I haven't properly used my IDE editor in the past few months.
The agent writes, I read the diff and say yes or tell it where it went wrong. That's the job it has become now. Autocomplete, refactor menu, multi-cursor, and all the stuff I actually picked my editor for are now untouched.
But the part that actually gets me isn't the editor, it's that none of this exists the second I close my laptop. My whole dev world just shuts down. I can't approve a diff, can't glance at a build failing, nothing, unless the laptop is open in front of me. For a job that's basically become "read this and say yes or no," that felt like a dumb constraint to still have.
Yeah, I tried some things like SSH-ing in from my phone, hooking up Telegram for notifications but felt it's not optimized for proper SDE workflows.
If you found something that actually works for this, would love to hear.
