Saw it on OzBargain after it sold out? That’s why Bargain Radar exists!

Hey everyone,

I’ve spent the past 10+ months building Bargain Radar — a site that tracks deals in real time and alerts you the moment something good drops.

It started as a way to find deals for myself… and somehow turned into a full-blown project that now consumes most of my nights and weekends (questionable life choices, I know).

Most price trackers (like PriceHipster or CamelCamelCamel) are great for checking history before you buy. This is built for a different problem:
catching deals as they happen, before they sell out.

Some of the deals surfaced here have ended up on OzBargain — a few even today! — and a bunch were gone within minutes. The really good deals disappear fast. Your best bet is early morning and yes… spam that refresh button. I do it too.

What makes it different

  • Real-time deal tracking across multiple retailers
  • Smart alerts (plain text) — e.g. “Sony headphones” or “robot vacuum”
  • Not tied to a single product listing, store, or model
  • Built for speed — because good deals don’t wait around

What it does

  • Browse live deals from multiple retailers in one place
  • Set alerts for products or categories
  • Get notified instantly when something matches your criteria
  • Filter by how “good” a deal actually is (avoid the classic 3% “sale”)

Retailers tracked

Amazon AU, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Big W, David Jones, Myer, Officeworks, Costco
(+ expanding based on demand)

A few features I’m proud of

  • Same item across retailers → compare prices side-by-side (no more opening 7 tabs like a maniac)
  • Price history charts → know if it’s actually a good deal
  • Featured deals → only the worthwhile stuff
  • RRP manipulation warnings → calls out the “was $999 yesterday” specials
  • Search by model number → no fluff results

It’s not perfect — sometimes it does things that make me question my own code. I’m actively improving it.

Completely free, no sign-up required.
If you find it useful, there’s a Buy Me a Coffee button — but no pressure.

Would love feedback:

  • What works?
  • What’s missing?
  • Any retailers or categories you want added?

EDIT: Looks like the site got hit with the Reddit hug of death
It’s running a bit slow right now due to the traffic, so please be patient while I scale things up. It’s usually much faster than this — just wasn’t quite prepared for the spike.

EDIT 2: We’re back online 😄
Site is live again after the traffic spike, and I’ve upgraded things so it should be faster and more stable now. Hopefully stronger than before — appreciate everyone’s patience and support.
