Not sure if it's the same anywhere else, but fashion wise in England 🌶 chili peppers (the vegetable) are everywhere on holiday shirts and dresses this Summer. It's even all over plates and cups!

The band need to get onboard and embrace the chili pepper merch wise! They could make a killing!

I’ve been thinking about the recent Red Hot Chili Peppers catalog sale to Warner (~$300M+). We know the current lineup (Anthony, Flea, Chad, and John) are splitting the big payout.

Here’s a hypothetical question: If John had never rejoined and Josh had stayed as the guitarist, do you think Josh would have gotten a full equal share of the catalog money instead of John?

From what I understand, RHCP treats the active band members as equal partners and splits major money (royalties, advances, and big catalog deals) four ways among whoever is officially in the band at the time. Past members like Navarro or Josh (once he left) only keep their performance royalties from the albums they played on, but they don’t get a piece of the upfront sale.

So in that alternate timeline, would Josh have cashed in big time with the other three, while John (being out of the band) would get nothing from this deal? Curious what you guys think — does this sound right, or am I missing how band ownership and catalog sales usually work?
