Fracture of 5th Metatarsal- Surgery?
Hey redditors! I don't post much but I twisted my ankle (after jumping off a step) and ended up in urgent care where they told me I broke my 5th metatarsal and referred me to an orthopedic doc. Unfortunately I am out of town this week for a work conference. I have been icing, utilizing compression, keeping weight off (in a boot and crutches), and elevating when possible. However as a very active person (ultrarunner and ride horses) Im trying to heal as quickly as possible with the best possible outcomes.
Having to wait to see the orthopedic doc, my biggest question is if you think this will be something that surgery will be recommended? I'm not asking for medical advice, just trying to set myself up mentally one way or the other.
Thoughts?
