Help with a horse that freezes under saddle
Hello all this is my first post here! For some backstory I’d say I’m right In between intermediate and advanced as I’ve trained a couple horses before but I definitely still have learning to do and my horse has been estimated at 16-20 and was previously at a dude ranch where she was deemed untrainable. This being said we have worked through every issue on the ground over the last 2 and a half years(we have taken things very slowly due to life issues) now our problem is once you get up in the saddle she doesn’t want to move, she stands, spins and kicks out no matter what we have tried, the only thing that has gotten her to walk calmly is being led around by someone on the ground but then the rider has zero control . I’ve thought it could be a saddle fit issue so we have had 2 different fitters come out and say her saddle is fine, I’ve had other people try and ride her thinking it was a me problem and yet nothing changes. I’m not in a financial spot to send her to any trainers in a 4 hour radius of me so this is kind of a last resort. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!
Edit to add: previously she would strike out and attempt to bite, was overall pushy and didn’t like anything past her shoulder being touched. These are all issues of the past, she currently walks quietly on a leadline, stands nicely for the farrier, ground ties, lunges tacked and with a rider she’s even had a kid use her for showmanship in 4H.
