Two goals for England at the Azteca
He's THAT guy!
These were a hugely underrated release from about 3/4 years ago, that was a pack of two shoes, this one and a light tan pair. Both of them went stupidly cheap in the sale. adidas actually sent me this pair, but I bought the light tan for Β£28 a few months later, if memory serves correctly
Great quality, as expected with any adidas collaboration, but especially collaborating with a Japanese brand
The little details like the logos on the collar lining and embroidery for the sidewall lettering and heel tabs, they are lovely
Big, fat chunky tongues, and the cupsole, combine to make these incredibly comfortable. Plus, love a shoebox and packaging that is different from the norm
adidas SL82 (a) SPZL for myself
The (a) is for archive, as this model was a prototype for the SL82 that was officially released, and the prototype sat in the archive until Gary Aspden pulled it out and decided to give them the Spezial treatment
The colourway is outstanding, and they are super comfy, winning
Show us your Three Stripes and have a great weekend π

adidas Billie Jean King
This is heritage
I am in no way skilled enough as a wordsmith to be able to convey the significance and cultural impact of this shoe, but I shall nonetheless attempt to express why the story behind these still resonates loudly today
The year is 1973. Societal and conventional norms are so far removed from the world we live in today. At 29 years old, Billie Jean King has finished five years of her career so far as the world number one women's tennis player. She is dominant on the court, and off the court, frequently brings attention to the disparity between how male athletes are treated and paid compared to women. The year previous, in 1972, she testified in front of Congress in a successful effort to change the law around equality in sport. On the eve of Wimbledon in 1973, she spearheads the forming of the WTA (Womens Tennis Association). A genuine pioneer in every sense
A former world number one male tennis player is disparaging to the women's game, and being the chauvinist he is, he declares that no woman can beat him in a game of tennis. He offers up a financial prize, and Billie Jean King took up the challenge
In a world where a women's tennis organisation had only just been formed, where men would openly mock women for playing sports, Billie Jean King won the Battle of the Sexes, wearing adidas, in September of 1973. She won $100,000, but more importantly, changed the entire perspective of women's tennis. She won the respect of many and changed the game for the generations that have followed. That one game of tennis made such an impact on history and on culture, it can not be overstated. That incredible moment in time is heralded over 50 years later with the launch of this new pair
With her own signature model returning in a neutral pallete, it is all in the details. Embossed with the year of the momentous occasion on the heel of one shoe, the other heel carries the winning score of 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. The quarter panels carry her signature in gold foil, with blue detailing across the woven tongue labels, one which features her endorsement. The insoles carry her inspiring quote, "Pressure is a Privilege"
This is heritage
This project has been worked on by the amazing WMN's team at adidas, and will be launching at multiple stockists and regions. They have been released early at a couple of retailers in the EU
Weather's become stormy, and to bring some brightness to the day, something wild and wacky
Inspired by graffiti heritage, a really cool release that was part of the second A to ZX series
Comfort is king π
Funky and cool collab
Inspired by one of the greatest films of all time
adidas Γ size? Torino
Three colourways on show, but what's in that case π
You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!
Launching this Friday, the 3rd of July
Another colourway that will be launching shortly
For myself, gone with the amazing ZX 10,000c 'Schokokase'
Translates as chocolate bunny, they are such a fun pair. The suede is real quality, and the tongues came with badges that I cut off, and inside were two Easter style lace jewel sets. Great vox and packaging as well. Really nice pair of trainers
Have a great weekend everyone π
Releasing on the 1st of July
Not sure about being ranged in NAM yet
The Trekking is one of the most commonly produced models, with many versions still knocking about due to their mass production
Still, a seriously good pair of footwear, especially the 1980s iterations. Classic aesthetic, top class materials, and a quality build
They don't make them like they used to
The colour of these is something to behold in person, the suede has a nap that captures a lovely sheen and can not quite be caught on my camera
Coupled with the great quality and the quirky signature details like the lining, and I am a big fan. I also have the purple colourway somewhere that released alongside. Picked up both pairs cheap in the sale a few years back
Great shoe, bit of something different
Bags Of Flavor, run by a top bloke called Rich
Shop has loads to offer, a full cabinet with knick knacks and collectibles, and a shop full of rails of clothing
A certifable treasure trove
Sat down with WOODstack Chief Brand Officer Andy Friedman and also with Freelance Brand Architect Kevin Rivera to talk about the project that saw a 1/396 shoe produced

adidas Γ size? Oregon Ultra Tech
Exclusive to size?
Launch on Friday
RRP is Β£100 each
The box and tongue just says EXC, but I found them in a catalogue, and it is definitely Excel
Bit of something different, the lining has got sticky and needs some TLC, but a great pair of trainers from a resurgent era
A lot of nostalgia among collectors for the brown boxes of the 90s
A two-shoe pack that reimagines modern classics
One pair is based on the Ian Brown ZX. The original release was part of an adidas project called Originals by Originals (ObyO), and it was ahead of its time, really. A famous Japanese designer, called Kazuki Kuraishi (KZK), worked on the Ian Brown ZX
The other pair is based on the Ostrich 1/100 Kegler Super. The original shoe was created as an homage to the 100th birthday of Adi Dassler, as it is said that the Kegler Super were his favourite model that he ever created. The 100 pairs were handmade in Germany by the legendary Markus Thaler and came in a gold shoebox
The new pairs take inspiration from those two pairs and apply it to the reintroduction of the Oregon Ultra Tech. The Ultra Tech was created under licence in the late 80s/early 90s in Korea and is an update to the classic adidas Oregon, hence the name. They have been out of production for about a decade, so it will be nice to see them back. After these two pairs, there is set to be a slew of inline colourways to come
The two new pairs both feature Cordura fabric in the material mix, and they launch this Friday exclusively at size?
Inspired by an original ZX Thousands Series colourway that was the RX 9500

Modern take on a classic, as the other pairs have been
