I reserved my spot last minute on a group climb and have bailed due to fear.

I’ve been wanting to climb Kilimanjaro for so long but recently it came back to surface and I become obsessed with booking but due to personal reasons it needed to be booked asap. I wanted to do it before September. Booked onto a climb that I need to fly for tomorrow and have bailed out due to fear of going alone, not being able to speak to loved ones due to signal and uncertainty whether I’m fit enough. I’ve been driving myself crazy- I don’t think I’m mentally prepared but will I ever be!?. I’m doing the three peaks second week of September and I’m wondering whether I should do that first to know whether I feel comfortable on the mountain. I’ve done it before but 7 years ago. I’ve been doing training but not mountain training just gym - stair master, runs, incline walks on treadmill. Has anyone else got this close to booking and bailed out due to fear? I’m worried if I don’t just get on and do it I’ll never do it.

Solo female - joining Kilimanjaro group hike

Hello, I’m planning to hike Kilimanjaro in a couple of months, but I haven’t booked yet because I’m a little concerned about the altitude and about going on my own. My partner and friends aren’t interested in hiking, so if I want to do this, it’ll likely be a solo trip. I feel that if I don’t go now, I may never do it, and climbing Kilimanjaro has been on my bucket list for a very long time.

I’m a 31-year-old woman and am currently looking at booking with Altezza. I’d love to hear from other women who have done the climb solo, especially if you were also worried about altitude sickness (AMS) or nervous about travelling and hiking alone. From a fitness perspective, I think I’m in a good position - I regularly go to the gym and run several times a week but I know fitness doesn’t necessarily protect against altitude issues.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, any tips you have, and whether you found your concerns were justified (or not!).

Thanks so much in advance.
