how much does the reputation of your undergrad matter when applying to m7 deferred mbas?

i go to a pretty crappy school (ranked like #1700 in the us).

hypothetically, if i were to somehow get a top 5% score in the gmat / gre and max out my ecs, get decent internships (not like mbb/big4 tho.. it would be hard to get accepted into those companies because of the lack of reputation of my undergrad) would i have a shot at an m7 mba?

is it worth spending the $1000 in gmat/gre exam fees, application fees, resources, retakes, etc? or am i better off not applying at all?

Do international internships help my MBA application?

I’m currently a Sales & Marketing intern at a hotel chain in Asia, and I’m planning to intern as an Analyst or IB in an investment banking firm in the Middle East.

I really want to apply to deferred MBA programs, like Harvard’s 2+2, but all other applicants I see have internships at large companies like MBB or the big 4.

Am I cooked? Is it better to get a top internship in the US than mid internships abroad?

PSA: I’m an international student studying in the US so I legally can’t do a US internship.
