I deleted my previous post because I explained the situation badly – EASA Class 2 medical and previous substance use

Hi everyone,
I deleted my previous post because I realised that I had explained the situation poorly and included more personal details than necessary.
I am currently going through an EASA Class 2 medical in Switzerland. During the medical, I was asked on an official medical form about previous use/abuse of substances.
I answered honestly and disclosed previous recreational substance use.
I want to clarify something about my decision to disclose it, because some of the replies to my previous post were along the lines of “Why did you say anything if it probably would never have come up?”
I understand that perspective, but for me this was a matter of personal integrity.
I want to start my aviation journey honestly. If I eventually continue from a PPL towards professional aviation and possibly a Class 1 medical, I don’t want my career or my professional conduct to be based on a lie I told years earlier on an official medical document.
I would rather be honest now, even if that means dealing with additional medical assessments or potentially having to demonstrate a longer period of abstinence, than knowingly give false information on an official document.
My AME has told me that, because of what I disclosed, I cannot receive the Class 2 certificate immediately and that I will need further specialist assessment before a decision can be made.
Some people have told me that I may potentially have to demonstrate two years of abstinence. I understand that this may depend on the specific medical assessment and circumstances, so I am trying to understand what is actually realistic.
My questions are:
Has anyone here gone through a similar EASA Class 2 situation after honestly disclosing previous substance use?
What normally happens after the AME refers you for a psychiatric/specialist assessment?
Is a two-year period of documented abstinence automatically required, or does it depend on the findings of the assessment?
Is it possible for the medical assessment to conclude that the previous use does not constitute a substance-use disorder/misuse requiring such a period?
Has anyone gone through this process and subsequently received their Class 2?
I’m not looking for advice on how to hide anything or get around the medical requirements. I have already chosen to be honest, and I intend to remain so.
I’m simply trying to understand what the process may look like from here and whether there are realistic outcomes other than being unable to obtain the medical for two years.
Thanks to anyone with first-hand experience, especially pilots, AMEs or people familiar with EASA aeromedical procedures.
