Long-time Blasted crew member Duff delivers a three-hour journey through the world of intelligent and atmospheric drum & bass, from its 90s origins to its reincarnations throughout the 2020s.
In his own words: "The idea for this mix came to me while I was once again listening through the Spatial label catalogue. And I was inevitably reminded of the drum & bass of the mid to late 90s, of parties, DJ mixes and outstanding tracks from that era. The label knows how to capture the vibe of that era in such a rousing and inspiring way, while sounding as crisp and powerful as current productions. I thought to myself, why not produce a mix that brings together the best of both dimensions: some of what I consider to be the most irresistible tracks on Spatial by ASC, Aural Imbalance and others, and absolute milestones and timeless classics in the history of atmospheric drum & bass from PFM, Blame, Total Science, Source Direct, Origin Unknown, Aquasky, LTJ Bukem and many more."
If you were around in the drum & bass scene in Berlin before 2018, you will most likely know Duff from the Refloat Sessions at Stereo 33 at Boxhagener Platz. Taking place every Tuesday, it was a meeting point for Berlin's small but dedicated drum & bass community and a scene-defining melting pot for a wide range of lounge-friendly subgenres of drum & bass.
Duff was one of the resident DJs and a core figure behind the project, later keeping the Refloat Sessions alive at Bloona Bar after Stereo 33 closed its doors at the end of 2018.
After a couple of years of relative quiet, Duff returns with the same impeccable taste and dedication to the craft that made him such a respected figure in the scene.
Consider this mix a teaser for Duff's appearance at the next Blasted somewhere in Berlin on 25 Sep 2026.
