Salt or Ozone
We have a new Hot Spring Limelight Beam finally getting delivered next week, which we're excited about.
It's replacing a Hot Spring 4-person Solana that came with our house around 20 years ago - and it was a good few years old at that point. It held up very well given its age but was very noisy, so we decided to splash out on a decent new one that should hopefully give us another 20 years of enjoyment.
I found the old Solana remarkably easy to maintain - really just adding a small amount of sanitiser after each spa, occasionally making small adjustments to PH etc after using test strips or the regeant based test kit. I never had any significant water issues.
For our new spa, we ordered the Freshwater Salt, Freshwater IQ, and IQ Dosing system. The salesperson convinced us the saltwater system would be a worthy upgrade and simplify maintenance further. I don't mind that it's a bit more expensive to buy cartridges if the resulting water is high quality and easy to maintain.
However, another one of the sales reps is now asking whether we really want to go with Salt, noting it's "a bit more complicated" and "requires more attention", and "some people that have gone from Ozone to Salt have struggled to get the hang of it".
Are we silly for still wanting the Salt system? We had convinced ourselves it would be a great upgrade.
