I guess I got screwed...

I have 5-6 Benchmade knives and I've had them for years. I've bought a bunch of these knives as momentos with my son as we traveled to hit national parks (5.11 stores in Utah, knife stores in California, etc.). We each daily carry bugouts, and we each have a few (serrated, non-serrated, minis) based on where we will be for the day. I finally pulled 2 of my bugouts out of my daily rotation to send in for warranty (clip screws came out and they were getting dull).

Anyway... I just got a letter from Benchmade. One of my bugouts that I've had for years is a counterfeit and they're keeping it. The letter says they're offering me $50 and they recommend I contact my "financial institute" to remedy my claim. While I understand the need to control the counterfeit market, I'm incredibly pissed that I no longer have a knife I've carried for years. I think it's the sentimental value that makes me the most mad.

I've replied to their email and explained my issue but I keep getting answers like "my financial institue" can help. I feel like I'm talking to a Nigerian prince .. They won't tell me why it's a counterfeit, just that they're seizing it.

I love the knives but after this... and their ridiculous new prices... I might be completely done with Benchmade.

Am I the only one?
