please any help is much appreciated!! I'm a rising hs senior, and I feel like I'm in the middle of a crisis rn. I always thought I wanted to become a doctor and then pursue medical research/academia from there, but now I feel like I wouldn't want to go through so much school to get started in research. I started to look into BME, and it seemed like a decent major that I could do while pursuing pre-med (so I could have an option of doing one or the other), but now I'm hearing people say that its a bad idea, since it lowers my chances of getting into a good medical school, and that the job market for BME isn't that great right now. To what extent is this true?

I really don't know what I want anymore, and am just hoping to get into a good school where I can explore my options, but also feel like time is closing in on me.

- New York Academy of Sciences team lead (presented a research paper on basically combatting VOC emmissions from flaring sites in MENA countries) 

- T10 School Advisory Board (social media manager and kind of co-director): Collaborated with the School's Psychiatry Department on their Program of Weight and Eating Research ); work alongside Associate Psychiatry Professor in leading group discussions and coordinating workshops, interviews, newsletters, and social media campaigns; analyzed several of the latest research studies regarding eating disorders alongside other advisory board members and interviewed authors of research studies; i recently organized a research symposium workshop!!
- Indian Classical Dance Team student, performer, and Assistant Teacher for 3+ years

- school model un chair of member training: (very competitive club, esp for officer positions), teaching new and returning members; in charge of creating and managing lesson plans, slides, + activities; organizing events; chairing conferences; head of mentorship program;  preparing students for awards+success at conferences; over 60% increase in awards from last year

- Learn to Be Club co president: club aims to create a community of LTB tutors, where tutors can support each other and exchange tips + advice ; create + teach comprehensive slideshows on essential tutoring skills and student engagement;

- volunteer at local hospital, shadowing and assisting nurses

- job as a math tutor for mathnasium!!

- a couple other things i did as an underclassmen (founding my own model un conference), but i dont rly continue w them today
