Six days in. Feeling hopeless staring down the road ahead. How to move forward? Coping methods?

Came out of nowhere- I was fine in the morning and halfway through eating a cup of soup at Chili's I felt that my lips weren't sealing evenly, and when I arrived home, this was what it looked like. After ruling out stroke and meningitis my doctor basically said "yeah, the steroids would be too expensive without insurance and don't have that much effect, come back if you don't see improvement in three weeks to three months". And it's the unknowns there that are ruining me.

If I knew it was permanent, I could grieve, learn to cope. If I knew it was temporary, I could look ahead. But it sounds like there's no way to know and that idea is the scariest thing.

I guess I don't know if I want advice or just needed to vent to people who would understand. I'm still in the period of trying to understand why this happened to me and why we know so little. I just don't even know how to begin looking to the future.

[REQ] ($600) - (#Manhattan, KS, USA), (Repay $350 on 6/26 and 7/10), (Paypal, Chime)

I work at a university so I had a two week sabbatical between fall and summer semesters, and it's put me in a bad place for paying rent this month- I can handle it but it will leave us with nothing and we have other expenses. I can negotiate repayment amounts if need be- please let me know!
