Leatherback sea turtles are the deepest-diving turtles on Earth, disappearing more than a kilometer beneath the ocean's surface before crossing entire oceans on migrations that seem almost impossible. So how does a reptile dive so deep, and live in waters cold enough that it would kill most mammals? How and why do they regularly travel across the entire planet? And what ancient force compels them to live a life this extreme?

I was there on the 4th for a different event but happened to be outside when I saw the horse go down, it was heartbreaking. They should have never ran those races in that heat yesterday...
