AES+ vs Everdrive/NeoSD
Is it only me or the AES+ lifespan might be short lived?
From the announcement that an Everdrive might come to the Neo-Geo by the end of the year, I've seen a lot of positive response to it. I know the NeoSD is already out there and some people might look into it when the AES+ drops but with the Everdrive possibly being cheaper, there might be an incitive to rather get this one.
Either way, the interest that people have with the alternative way of getting all of the games for way cheaper is troublesome and worrysome for the future of the AES+.
I know a lot of you (including me) are excited by the possible re-releases for some of the games but for some other people, they don't give a damn about it because they'll go for the SD route (or the 161 in 1 cart) because they can't afford 90$ a pop for a game (or because they think it's too expensive) which is understandable. However, this will have a direct impact for the future of the re-releases.
So far, we don't know if any of the existing SD carts or 161 in 1 carts will work on the AES+ but some of you have probably seen people asking if flash carts will be compatible for the AES+ (some even went as far that they would cancel their pre-order if it doesn't). We don't know how Plaion will tackle this issue but I'm pretty sure they are aware of it.
The AES+ might have been a homerun for SNK and Plaion but I think we shouldn't underestimate those who prefer piracy. There is a unknown ratio of people who's gonna buy physical cartridge vs people who's gonna go full pirate.
I do hope more people buy the games because the Higher the demand for game is, the higher the chances for some new games AND re-release.
What do you guys think?
Also, I'm gonna leave this here:
High consoles sold =/= high demands for physical games
Many of us have pre-ordered 2 Neo-Geo (ultimate and anniversary) and don't forget the scalpers who pre-ordered a good amount too.
