Has the podcast warped my sense of reality this much?

Hi friends, I'm new to necromunda, and think I've got most of the basics worked out, but versatile weapons confuse me a little. Specifically, I've got an escher queen with a shock whip, and have a few questions.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think from the rules that if I attempt to charge and can get close enough I must end in base to base contact, right?
Can I just do a normal walk movement to within 3" versatile range but outside of 1" and just attack them with my second action anyway? Giving up the extra attack dice i would've gotten from having charged?
If there is a wall or piece of terrain between my queen and her victim, do they gain the benefit of cover from that terrain like they would from a shooting attack?
Thanks very much in advance!
Hi friends, a mate is trying to convince me to get into necromunda with him. I will admit it looks pretty great.
I've already got the warcry red harvest terrain painted up, and was wondering how you guys feel it would work for a necromunda game. What would you add to it to make it better? Or would i be better off starting from scratch if I were to build a board?
Thanks in advance!
