I finished my first retie!

3 days, a tripod, and a huge ring light and Im done! I only really used water, occasionally mousse, and the london loc tool. (which if I didn't have that I honestly don't think I could've done it. Those threading tools like to rip out my hair) I used a 3 point rotation.

clap it up yall. I feel like I could start booking folks fr

Is this a hole (That ominous Y shape)

it kinda looks like a combined loc but ik I didn't do that

still trying to learn this retie stuff and my tools keep shredding my baby locs 😩 I hate my hair texture right now

Is there hair that just "doesn't like" microlocs?

I had a loctician combine my locs from 190 to 115 at the roots and say I'll have the 'look' of microlocs because my hair doesn't like them.

Spoiler alert. they didn't have the look. They turned into regular ol traditional locs so I combed them out and restarted smaller. I have 281 now. im wondering if im stubborn and its actually possible for your hair to 'reject' mini locs. soo is my hair gonna fall out 🧐🧐 I have a mix of dense 3c 4a hair I guess.

Finished install by my mom (3/8 parts)

Two strand twists probably aren't the best choice but theyre diy. I ended up with 281

I didnt think they'd come out so.. loose 🥴 Im afraid to even touch them. Im pretty sure I have 4a hair man my twists have never looked this fragile

I have no loctician so any tips for taking care of your own microlocs? How long do we think these will take to loc? Usually it takes my hair a year, but apparently the smaller the loc = the longer it takes to loc?

This is my first time going this small. The last sets were 100 and 190 at the time of install (but my loctician combined so many that by the time it locked fully I had about 120 😬)

Interlocking is incredibly easy??

Listen, I won't speak too soon because Im only interlocking fresh starterlocs and havent really had new growth yet, but the actual interlocking part was a breeze after kinda getting over the learning curve. (I accidentally combined 2 locs and put a knot in another. All I had to do was pull the loc back out of the base)

Im a bit stupid so when I saw people describe the directions by using a clock or a compass I felt really lost. I decided to write down 4 arrows instead and have the paper in front of me so I didn't forget where I was.

Unfortunately, I did have to splurge on the london loc tool because threading added at least 45 minutes. It doesn't help that my hair texture is softer so I kept piercing the middle of the twist and had to retwist it 😩 It messed with my confidence when interlocking because I was so focused on making sure the loc didn't fall out of the tool because I knew it'd take me a long time to thread it again.

I'll see how this new tool treats me 🙏🏽 maybe I can see myself speeding through reties in the future

Interlock or braiding base

I want to start locs with twists. Does braiding the base of the twist have the same effect as just doing a regular twist and using a tool to interlock it, or am I supposed to do both?
