Something missing in the 'grey has retired' theory

It's really common on this sub to think that grey had retired as he can make enough money from changing his youtube titles/thumbnails, but I always think this idea misses something. The podcast makes clear that Cgp grey is an incredibly cautious, risk-adverse guy. Leaving his channel up to title and thumbnail changes is essentially one YouTube algorithm tweak away from stopping working and failing to continue to bring in revenue. I guess it's still working well enough for him now as he continues to do it, but YouTube could so easily change that with no notice, which makes me think it's really unlikely he would hinge his continued income on that.

Could he have made enough money that he can just live off it for the rest of his life? It's possible, but he's probably what, mid-40s? So seems kind of unlikely? Maybe it's that his CURRENT situation means he doesn't need to upload a lot rather than he's decided to permanently finish with the channel.

How is it that two singers in harmony can sometimes sound so locked in?

I'm not sure how much this question makes sense, but when certain duos sing together they can be so locked in, I feel like there's almost this particular sound to it that you don't get most of the time?

I'm talking about acts like Simon and Garfunkel or the Everly Brothers, they sing together smoothly and it sounds so good it's almost like they make something over and above their two voices? Or another weird example but the family guy episode where Peter and quagmire sing together has it too lol. Could anyone explain what's going on with *that* sound of harmony?

Why does nobody talk about Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey?

Okay I know Beatles nerds talk about this song, but I don't feel it's really known at all outside of that circle? I always dug it as kind of the centrepiece of Ram, and was very surprised to find out recently that this song was a number one hit??

Surely it has to be one of the strangest songs ever to go number one? Maybe THE strangest, I can't really think of anything that tops it? The first couple minutes are so calm and mellow, you wouldn't think of them as a single at all. And the lyrics are mostly just these meaningless non-sequitors. There's not really even a Beatles song like it, if it had been on the white album or something like that I feel like this would be lauded as one of their great moments.

And what's also crazy is that Too Many People is the b-side: now that sounds like a much more conventional 1970 hit single. I just can't believe the masses were bumping this quirky little Paul sound collage, but good on them!

Warmish (?) take: Chance the Rapper's the big day is comfortably the biggest Trainwreckord of all time

I truly think there is no other album in history that has tanked a career as badly as this one, purely due to incompetence and shit music. I think other trainwrecords can fall in particular categories, but the big day stands on its own as an artist on the rise, leading up to their shining moment, and just absolutely falling on their face.

Other records like Cut the Crap or the Madonna one may be worse musically, but they basically live as singular blots on an otherwise glittering career. Another category would be artists like Katy Perry or Macklemore, who had a lot of hype with mainstream trends, but it was inevitable their career was going to fall off one way or another.

Chance was different: he was completely independent and was balancing the twin paths of critical acclaim and commercial appeal, which only the best do. He was on the way to becoming a Coachella headlining kind of artist, and he just got too cocky and completely phoned in a record and didn't realise that his fans were never gonna buy it. It's kind of the double edged sword of his independence, a label behind it would never have let it go down like that. Never before has a single album changed the entire trajectory of someone's career in this particular way when the artist had total control of the output. It's not like he fell prey to musical trends changing around him, he just got lazy and faced the consequences. And sure, star line is decent, but it's not saved his career: most of the conversation around it has still been around the big day. There is simply no going back to a pre big-day career for Chance. Maybe it's a little unfair to him since the previous stuff was so good, but the public have made their judgment, and I truly cannot think of a comparable album drop in popular music.

Considering the Walter White story becomes globally famous, what conspiracy theories would spread around it?

There are conspiracy theories for basically everything these days, and especially for notorious crime stories. The Madrigal and neo-nazi elements are also particularly ripe. What whacky theories do you think extreme weirdos would be spreading online about this? I'm thinking stuff along the lines of:

- Gus Fring was bankrolled by Jeffrey Epstein

- Walter White was secretly an escaped Charles Manson

- the whole story is a deepstate psy-op planted by the Obama administration to secure his election (somehow)

Do girls actually finger themselves when masturbating

Apologies for my ignorance, I understand that by and large girls masturbate with the clit. But do you also put fingers inside as a sometimes thing? Or is that basically just a porn thing only?
