Came out as abro for the first time yesterday
So I'm not really sure what I'm doing here, I don't usually use reddit but this is the only place I can think of to vent.
So I (27 trans guy) found the abro label a few months ago and yup that's me alright. I always felt confused on my sexuality and I still am sometimes in terms of how I'm feeling some days, but this label brings me comfort in those times. Previously if my sexuality shifted I would end a relationship thinking it was better for them, but now I know I have the words to describe my feelings if I date someone in future.
I hadn't told anyone about this until yesterday. I wanted time to figure things out at first, but then seeing hate and mockery online had me feeling ad nervous as when I came out as trans, but yesterday the opportunity just landed in my lap and so I took it.
Yesterday one of my closest friends (33f) and I were shopping in the city, getting things ready for the local pride event next month, so I figured getting an abro flag would be a good way to start that conversation. She is cishet but has always been a great ally, correcting people with my pronouns for example, so I figured she wouldn't know what abro is but would overall be kind and accepting
It didn't go horrible and we're still good friends, but I'm not sure how I feel about her reaction. She made jokes about how I just can't decide repeatedly and she didn't seem to take it seriously. I felt really dismissed but I figured it was her way of showing she doesn't care. Today I still don't feel great at it and it's only increased my worries about coming out to anyone else, which sucks because despite the nerves I was looking forward to spending pride with a flag that actually felt right to me and now I'm not sure if I should just leave it home on the day
Not sure if I just wanted to vent or if I want advice, either way thank you for listening this far.
