3.5 years and burned out

Hi everyone. I’ve been in health care for many years- 3.5 years as an NP, 4 years as an RN, but a few years before that as an aid as well.

I got my dream job out of school- urgent care, nice pay and allows me to travel. At the time I felt the leadership really cared about me as a person.

Over the last 3.5 years I’ve waxed and waned. My love for urgent care is clouded by a handful of really crappy patient experiences and leadership pushing more patients. I don’t get paid past closing hours and I normally finish all my charts- but pushing patients to be seen toward EOD, etc.

I apply for other jobs but end up turning them down. Nothing seems appealing to me. And with the schedule that allows me to travel it’s hard to leave. But sometimes I am so miserable and I end up calling out because I can’t mentally prepare myself to be there.

Can anyone relate? I’m just at a loss for what to do. I really think the answer for me is to leave healthcare completely but I have no idea what or how to even make some sort of comparable income. I have no interest in starting my own medical practice.
