📢 Configuration files are back!

We’ve restored the functionality of our configuration files. If you’ve used them before — for example, on routers or TVs — you’ll need to set them up again. This will only take a few minutes; you can find the step-by-step guides on our website.
If you encounter any difficulties, please contact our support team at support@amnezia.org.

📌 We would like to remind you to update all our apps to the latest version. The updates include improved security algorithms that prevent filtering systems from detecting and blocking our servers.

For those who are temporarily unable to update the app, AmneziaWG — a native WireGuard client with anti-blocking protection provided by our protocol — may be the perfect solution.

Here are the operating systems for which we currently recommend using AmneziaWG:

💻 Windows 7/8
🍏 macOS 12
🍎 iOS 16 and earlier
👾 Android 8 and earlier (including Android TV; installation instructions)

You can download AmneziaWG directly from GitHub for desktop devices or from the official app stores. We’re also working on an update for the main Amnezia VPN app to add support for Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 / Debian 12).

📌 Important for Premium users: Connecting to AmneziaWG is done via a configuration file, not a key.

There are two ways to get the configuration file:

  1. Log into your website account: Go to "Connection Settings" ➡️ "Configuration Files" ➡️ select a location and download.
  2. In the Amnezia VPN app: Tap the location ➡️ gear icon ➡️ "Configuration Files" ➡️ select a location and save the file.

🌏 20 locations are once again available to Premium users

Friends, we’ve restored access to 20 of our locations. The only exception is Russia, which is temporarily unavailable due to ongoing technical optimization. We’ll let you know as soon as it’s back online.

All available regions are operating normally via the AmneziaWG protocol.

📌 To update your location list, reload the API configuration: Select any location, tap the gear icon ⚙️ in the top corner, and choose "Reload API Configuration".

📌 If the API refresh doesn’t work, reset the app and re-enter your key: Tap the gear icon ⚙️ at the bottom ➔ "App" ➔ "Reset Settings and Delete All Data".

📌 Important reminder: update the Amnezia VPN app to version 4.8.19.0. You can do this on our website.

Please note: If you switch your installation source (e.g., you previously installed the app from GitHub but are now updating via Google Play), a conflict error may occur. To avoid this, use the original source. If the error persists, simply uninstall the old version and reinstall the app.

Wishing everyone a stable connection!

Update the Amnezia VPN app to the latest version 4.8.18.

We have nearly completed the restoration of Amnezia Premium infrastructure. To continue using the service, you must update the Amnezia app to version 4.8.18.

The update is available for all platforms on our website. For iOS users in Russia, version 1.0.8 is available directly through the App Store.

The new version fixes a detection error that was used to identify some of our servers.

Yesterday, we released an interim version, 4.8.17. If you have already installed it, please update to version 4.8.18.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by these consecutive updates, but this step is necessary to ensure service reliability and security.

🔧 Some locations are now available to all Premium users

We are gradually returning to normal operations. Currently, 6 locations are available to all Premium subscribers: France, Poland, Switzerland, the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands.

If you're having trouble connecting:

📌 Enable the VLESS protocol: click on any location, tap the gear icon ⚙️ at the top, and click the box for “Use VLESS protocol.”

📌 Choose specific locations: we currently recommend connecting to France, Poland, or Switzerland.

If that doesn’t help, reload the API configuration:

📌 Go to the gear icon ⚙️ inside any location and select “Reload API Configuration.”

We plan to restore the remaining locations shortly, and we’re also working on getting Amnezia Free back up and running. Please follow our social media for updates; we’ll provide more details there.

💬 Did these countries start working for you after updating the configuration? Please share your status in the comments on this post; your feedback is very helpful to our team right now.

We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience and trust.

Amnezia Recovery Status Update

Over the past week, Amnezia Free and Premium have been operating under unprecedented pressure. Our focus has been not only on restoring service availability but also on adapting our infrastructure to a new environment of continuous attacks and blocking attempts.

We have identified a mitigation strategy that is proving effective and have already started migrating Amnezia Free and Premium infrastructure to it. The rollout is currently in progress and will take several more days to complete. Some users are already seeing improved connectivity, while access for others will be restored gradually as the migration continues.

What we know so far:

📌 We are dealing with a coordinated attack involving multiple vectors, including DDoS activity and phishing attempts.

📌 There are indications that recently discovered vulnerabilities in the WireGuard protocol may have been exploited to block some of our servers.

📌 We have additional findings that cannot be disclosed at this stage, as public disclosure could negatively affect mitigation efforts and service stability.

What we're doing now:

📌 Deploying more than 50 new servers per day while continuing our analysis of vulnerabilities affecting both WireGuard and AmneziaWG.

📌 Temporarily migrating Free and Premium services to a new architecture based on the VLESS protocol.

📌 Preparing an application update.

📌 Fully redesigning our infrastructure to operate reliably under these new conditions.

We understand that this period has been particularly challenging for Premium users. As a gesture of appreciation for your patience, all Premium subscribers will receive an additional 1 or 2 months of service, depending on subscription plan.

Once the recovery process is complete, we will share a detailed account of what happened. For now, our entire team's top priority is restoring stable operation for both Free and Premium users.

Thank you for your trust and support!

We are continuing to restore our services

We were unable to fully recover from the aftermath of the attack within the first 24 hours, but we are working around the clock.

As we mentioned earlier, the nature of the current limitations differs from what we have faced in the past. We are simultaneously testing several technical hypotheses and solutions across different areas to find the most effective way to restore stable service operation.

Some of the tests are already showing good results, and we are gradually bringing the affected resources back online. We need additional time to ensure the stability of the implemented fixes and scale them across the entire infrastructure.

We ask for your understanding: support requests will not speed up the recovery process, as the issue is currently being resolved at the infrastructure level.

Thank you for your patience and trust. We will provide an update once the work is complete and will definitely compensate Premium users for the days Amnezia was unavailable.

We are facing a large-scale attack

Our infrastructure is currently under a large-scale attack by those who want to restrict your free access to the internet. This issue is affecting all Amnezia Free and Premium users.

We have weathered various forms of pressure before, which is exactly why we are now targeted by an attack of this scale. Amnezia is a major project with a strong, resilient community, so we are confident we will get through this.

Our team is already working hard to restore services and is blocking the IP addresses behind the attack. Full restoration will take approximately 24 hours. Consequently, all Premium sales are temporarily suspended.

Please note that contacting support will not speed up the process right now — our entire team is fully focused on mitigating the impact of the attack.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and deeply appreciate your patience. We will keep you updated and will let you know the moment everything is fully restored.

Brazil has joined a number of countries that restrict internet access. Similar laws are already in place in Australia and the United Kingdom, where authorities also cite the protection of children as their rationale. Human rights activists and digital security experts have criticized the measures as ineffective and accused the authorities of spying on citizens.

In a new blog post we explain what Digital ECA is, how it will affect anonymity and privacy in Brazil, and how this initiative fits into the global trend of internet censorship.
