Hey everyone,
Everything feels like it's trapped inside X, Facebook, or Instagram, and blogging has lost its soul. I wanted to build a place where having your own "web space" feels fun again.
So I've been working on apeos (a personal Operating System) during my funemployment period. It's a small project inspired by the 2000s web, a mix of personal blogging, following friends, and mini-games.
I know things like Puter exist, but this is much smaller and focused on that "digital garden" aesthetic.
A sad story about apeFriend:
There’s a little monkey mascot inside called apeFriend. It used to write blog posts for you, chat about your day, and even change your UI theme via AI. However, since I’m currently between jobs and AI API costs are through the roof, it’s currently just chilling at the bottom of the screen, inactive. If people actually like the project, I really want to bring it back to life.
It's still very early. I’d love to get some feedback or have you guys find some bugs.
