Basket debate

Hi guys...im using the high flow basket (flair 58+2) and i was thinking if i need a new one. (19,5-20 grams in)

I usually drink medium to light roast coffees and i dont have any problem.

Lately i bought the Alchemist Rwanda from Dak coffee roasters.

I tried in my Eureka Mignon the finest cut but still the extraction was too fast.

The only solution that worked was to dial in 22 grams!

Gpt suggested to buy IMS competition precision basket 58mm 18-20 gram

I also read about ikape beehive basket or even about convex and variable diameter.

What do you suggest?

Shall i buy a basket and if yes which one?

Thanks😎

Rate my coffee corner

Hey guys, do you like my coffee corner?

I started with a coffee capsule machine. Then i bought this delonghi authentica. But i kept on spending much money on ordering coffees from deliveries. Then a delonghi dedica and now i enjoy this Flair!

Tbh is difficult with the dial in, but at last u found a couple of coffees that match my tasting profile and are dialing in perfect😊.

I cant expand more in the kitchen because my wife is "complaining"😂

She keeps telling me: Do you want to make our house in a coffee shop? Do we really need all these coffee machines, tools etc? She prefers the automatic machine but when im at home she asks me to make her a good espresso!

I love this new lever experience! Cheers

Grinder setting

Hey guys. I am currently using an Eureka Mignon Specialita.

My zero spot is somewhere in minus -0.5 (where i hear the knives touching each other)

I usually buy different coffees to experiment with the flavors etc.

I have noticed that i have to grind somewhere between 1 and 0 which means tooooo fine.

(The same coffees in delonghi dedica were somewhere between 2.5 and 1.5

Yeah i know pump machine vs lever.)

  1. Lately a medium India even in finer couldnt dial in properly. Even 20 g in - 40 g out the extraction was in 15 sec😅maybe it was old roasted ?

  2. Watch video. At 22-23 sec u can see that the bottom creates a gab ? Is this channeling or because of the lever pressure there is a tilt angle?

  3. Are u grinding too fine also guys at your grinders?

Thanks once again for your help🫡

Help 🥲

Hello guys. New entry to lever machine. I bought a flair 58+2.

I ve got an Eureka mignon specialita.

I've watched many videos, infos, articles etc.

I've tried many coffee beans (from dark to medium)

My dial in is -> 19,3 - 20 gram of coffee in & 40 - 45 gr out.

Here comes the question about the extraction time.

Most people get 10sec preinfusion at 2-3 bars and they end up at 30-40sec shots. Even i go to finer i cant get these extractions time.🥺

I managed it with 1 or 2 coffees but the taste was bitter and the extraction seemed to channeling

I mean i get a good taste in about 22 sec (10 sec preinf and 12 main infus 6-7 bars)

Should i focus only at the taste? Maybe is the coffee roast date matter? They are not old coffees but idk.

(Btw i fill the water up to the top before i start to brew and the pressure-resistance i feel is good)

I attach some videos.

1st and 2nd videos medium coffee. Finer cut in 1st.

3nd and 4th dark coffee. Finer cut in 3nd. (Videos in comments)

PS: the puck rating is ok? I mean the marks around the portafilter in the edges are normal or channeling ?

I had a delonghi dedica with botomless, basket upgrades etc and i was drinking super coffee and now with the flair i feel kinda hard to find the best ratio🙄😔

Thanks in advance.🖐🤝🙏

(I use the high flow basket which is included)
