Today’s Rose of the Day is Fourth of July, a climbing rose bred by Tom Carruth in the US. This vigorous rose has vibrant, fragrant flowers, sets loads of hips for winter interest, and is just a wonderful rose in the garden.
Today’s Rose of the Day is Sheherazade, a floribunda rose bred Takunori Kimura in Japan. It’s a prolific, vibrant and fragrant bloomer, and healthy, too. The shrub is compact, bushy and in the smaller side, and has very few thorns.
Today’s Rose of the Day is Secret’s Out, discovered by Witherspoon Rose Nursery. Secret’s Out is the sport of Secret, a hybrid tea rose bred by Daniel Tracey in the US. Secret’s Out struggles for me in winter, but rebounds in spring. It has gorgeous flowers and a strong fragrance.
Today’s Rose of the Day is Blue Moon Stone, a shrub rose bred by Junko Kawamoto in Japan. Beautiful, fragrant and healthy, this rose brings a lot to the garden. It’s quite small in my zone 7b garden, and the smaller size makes it easier to keep this rose near the front of the bed, where it can be enjoyed up close. :)
Today’s Rose of the Day is Oso Easy Italian Ice, a shrub rose bred by Christopher Warner in the UK. It’s vigorous, and healthy. The flushes repeat quickly and it’s just a nice little shrub.
Today’s Rose of the Day is Lilian Austin, a shrub rose bred in the 1970’s by David Austin in the UK, and named for his mother. This rose is very vigorous, healthy, and I can’t get enough of the ruffled, fragrant flowers.
Today’s Rose of the Day is Sally Holmes, a hybrid musk rose bred by Robert Holmes in the UK. I’ve had this rose in my garden for over 25 years. It suffered years of neglect when I was busy caring for young children, and it bloomed anyway. It does get a little black spot on the leaves, but this rose is vigorous enough to power through it and — it blooms anyway. It has very few thorns, and a mild fragrance, and is incredibly generous with the blooms!
Fleur de Lumiere was one of my most-anticipated bareroots this year. It has not disappointed. It’s been healthy, made a ton of blooms, and they were huge. I especially love the color shift (it starts out cream and pink, and shows more gold as it opens)! @AprilAndAshley
