Is there any financial benefit for getting a credit card. I don't really have a need and I have always just relied on my debit card to pay for anything, using direct payment (bsb & account#) for larger payments.

Is a good credit history important in Australia? Would it be a good idea to purchase things on my credit card to build a good credit history? Or just get one to accrue frequent flyer points.

I currently have about $140k in investments and savings.
