I'm sure there's 15 different sides to this story. I have no idea which of them, if any, are legit. Is this a truth-based indictment of our new reality? Is it sour grapes? Is it both?

I found this guy's take fascinating, and a fun read, although like many Atlantic articles, I'm convinced they all get paid by the word and there's a solid editorial requirement that the initial two pages of prose must be the equivalent of first-episode-of-the-series montage showing the recent backstory of primary cast.

In any event, none of what he's describing here is likely to ever be my problem - there's a perverse privilege to being the type of adjunct who teaches for fun, and derives their primary wages from work in industry - but I'd be really interested to hear what all of you tenure-track types think of all this.
