US to UK expat investment options

Hey all,

This may have been discussed to death before but I couldn’t quite grasp some of the answers I saw. I’m a US expat living in the UK and I’ve been interested in dipping my toe into investing. I was all set to start investing in VOO because it seemed simple enough but I soon encountered the roadblock of my US citizenship.

This all looks very complicated and I am an utter beginner. I don’t have a lot of money, I was just going to add bits here and there as I found myself with extra, so hiring a financial advisor seems out of the question.

What’s the best option for someone just starting out? I have a pension fund ofc but I wanted to put back extra on my own. The best two brokerage accounts seem to be Schwab or Interactive Brokers but I can’t tell which is better or if ether of them would suit my situation at all.

I’m very confused on what I can do. Any advice would be appreciated 🙏

Advice?

I’ve been going back and forth about this since Anaxa’s rerun was leaked.

I currently have e3 Anaxa and I want to e6 him. I run him with e0s1 cerydra, e0s1 DHPT and e0s0 Cyrene and he performs fine, he just 40k cleared PF. I just want him to CONTINUE to be good.

I know his best support is e2 Cyrene and yeah I’d like to e2 her eventually, but I’m worried that Anaxa is about to be put in the Disney vault since this will be his third run. Cyrene is super popular so I imagine she’ll get at least 1-2 more reruns before she falls out of cycle.

What would you do in my situation? I’ve got some savings but not a ton! Just lost Cyrene’s LC to Gepard LC 🥲

Camping with CPAP?

Family wants to go camping in a few months, which sounds great since I haven’t been camping in years. I started Cpap in January and it’s completely changed my life. I wouldn’t go another night without it!

I’ve never thought about the struggle of camping with a Cpap though. The campsite they want to go to does feature some hookups ( in the pic posted ) but I have no idea if I’m able to use them. Has anyone here gone camping with a Cpap and used these hookups before? I don’t want to fry my machine.

Experiences?

My thyroid has tested a little oddly for about twenty years. When I was 20 or so, I remember a doctor telling me it was 1 point off from normal ( I don’t know what number he meant, I didn’t know anything about thyroids at the time, but I was experiencing regular panic attacks and fatigue ) He told me it wasn’t enough to medicate and I shrugged and left it alone.

Twenty years later, it tears off every time. I’ve gotten a doctor to test for it every few months since last year and what I’m seeing is T4 at the low end of normal and getting lower, and TSH regularly 4.7 or so. These numbers aren’t wildly bad, but I am pretty symptomatic. I lose more hair than I’d like, in fact my legs have no hair at all! I don’t tolerate heat or exercise that well. I get palpitations now and then, get dry skin. I retain water easily despite doing my best to stay hydrated, and I’ve had steady and annoying weight gain despite not changing my diet all that much, weird periods. Sometimes I go a week or two without sweating and have trouble regulating my temperature. I’ve had my heart checked and I’ve gone to a&e when my legs swelled up more than usual and I get told that they aren’t sure, I look fine. I check my blood sugar now and then because diabetes runs in my family but it’s always fine.

Hypothyroidism runs in my family too!

The doctor told me I could try taking something for my thyroid if I wanted just to see if it helped, but it’s not low enough to formally diagnose, which makes me feel a little crazy hahaha. I feel like this has affected my life for so long and the doctors are still like “well maybe”

Those of you with similar numbers, how did you feel? Did medication help immediately? I’m a little nervous about dosing because I’m getting a liquid hormone ( food allergies ) Swinging into hyper sounds scary!
