Thoughts and feedback on our itinerary
Hi everybody,
My boyfriend and I are planning to travel to Japan in November this year for the first time! I've drafted a high-level itinerary but I'm worried that it's too jam-packed. We're going for 21 days with the intention of splitting time between busy cities and also spending time in nature. We'd prefer taking things a little slower rather than rushing from place to place.
I'm struggling to understand whether my high-level itinerary is too busy:
- Day 1 to 3: Tokyo, with one being a day trip to hike Mt Oyama (or some other mountain) to try to see Mt Fuji
- Day 4 to 8: Osaka, with one day at Universal and one half day at Minoh Park
- Day 9 to 11: Kyoto, with one day at Nara
- Day 12 to 13: Hiroshima and Miyajima Island
- Day 14 to 16: Kanazawa (with most of the first day being travelling)
- Day 17: either Alpine Route or Kurobe Gorge
- Day 18 to 21: Tokyo, with one of these being a day trip to Nikko to see the waterfalls + explore the national park, until we fly out on the evening of the 21st day
We've considered a few things like basing in Osaka and day tripping to Kyoto/Nara, taking out either the Nikko or Alpine Route day trip, but we're having trouble deciding whether it's necessary and what option would be best. Any thoughts or feedback would be incredibly helpful, thanks in advance!
