I just got a new baby (couple months old) and he has really sharp nails. He's still really small and his nails aren't that long so I dont plan on cutting them yet (mostly out of fear of hurting him), but would it hurt him to lightly file them? (with like a regular nail file/emery board)

additional questions: Roughly how old do you start trimming their nails? And any advice on nail trims with a super squirmy pig? (I mean this guy does kick flips when I pick him up. we're working on getting him more comfortable being held, but in case he doesnt grow out of it I want to be prepared)
