Feeling disappointed in your program?

I suppose this applies to stress and boredom too:

Try an end of program workout from something lighter than you have done for months.

I couldn’t get to the pool for my 1k yards I planned after I finished single bell ABC with the 26kg. I’ve weaved weights a few times for the 10th rep on press day. A few hours later I did AMRAP double 35lbs to 100.

Last year I couldn’t do a single 30lb goblet squat with my torn meniscus.

Pick an easy snack sometimes, instead of a feast.

Accountability

It was more of a way of wrapping up a discussion on accountability, but a single sentence in Dan John’s podcast really struck as one of the things that makes a program or fitness in general so easy to quit.

He mentions that he envies people who can be self-driven without the various accountability techniques he talks about.

I’m glad this community is here. Kettlebells helped me be successful in weight loss, getting stronger, and making endurance events something achievable. All my old aches have been replaced by things I’ve caused myself if I’m lazy with attention to form or choosing not to take time for recover.

Neupert - Kettlebell Muscle question

I picked up the book yesterday and read through it. For anyone who completed it, I had a loading question.

Yes, it says choose a comfortable 10RM set of matched doubles for presses. This might seem obvious, but how comfortable?

I have adjustables. I finished ABF with double 20kg. I still have some time in my current program, and wouldn’t start til probably early September. I’m doing single bell ABF 24kg (dropping to 21kg at the 10 rep ladder) and triathlon training for another 3 weeks.

It seems reasonable to test my weakest lift and recovery before then. I’m thinking the double snatch would be my limiter more than anything else, and may make sense to do double 18kg.

Has anyone started slightly below previous programs and finished this well, or is the an adaptation thing I’m overthinking?

W1D2 ABF 2x24kg

I came off a few weeks break from ABF where I cycled through snatch, row, press, and squat after my last ABF, so I jumped back in at mid ABF structure.

Day 1 autoregulated ABC went ok. Took about 40 minutes.

D2: 2-3 ladders to 50. 2-3(2x24) and 5-5(single 21), 2-2 with the double 24 and form started breaking. Took a rest. AMRAP double 35 lb got to 10, 7, had a little gas left and went to 5 to end at 102 presses.

4x4 pull-up, failed the last set of 4 to end at 19.

A year ago today I almost fell over on a 15lb goblet squat assigned in physical therapy. I had a torn meniscus.

I had hoped to be past 2x28kg with ABF at this point, but I’m happy with my recovery, and looking forward to 2x26kg in 8.5 weeks after my deload.

First mixed double clean, press, squat; first 26kg reps

Nothing too special, here. I still have 3 weeks with DFW Remix. The kettlebells were at 23kg for the first 3 weeks.

The single snatches were much easier than the double 23 clean, press, squat. I was enjoying the snatches more and decided to bump up the weight to make that the 5RM I was setting for the remainder.

I’ll be using the 26kg for swing and snatch, mixed for clean, press, squat, and one day a week of rows.

I hadn’t tried mixed doubles. I may feel differently after a full session, but first impression is pretty great.

We were in a car and couldn’t catch up for a better pic. It was the only marking on the van.
