Silverstone - can they handle the numbers?
Just got home from the British Grand Prix, we had general admission tickets. It was a record breaking weekend but it does make me wonder if they can/should handle that number of people.
My experience this weekend saw on Fri the two main toilet areas at Made at Vale being closed because the water had stopped working so couldnt flush the toilets or wash hands.
Many toilet blocks today the toilets were not flushing at Becketts.
All days, massive queues for drinking water in the blazing heat.
We were all packed in like sardines in the GA areas, most the time it was hard to get out and back in again in to your spot.
They need to improve the toilets/water situation as I don't think it's going to get quieter. If it was a heat wave I think there would have been a lot of people struggling.
Edit: Seems like a mixed bag of experiences with both the toilets and water situation. When those issues were impacted people I think it made it feel worse just because it was so hot. Having to walk further or queue longer in direct sun compounds the issues.
I think also making people empty water bottles at security (which I personally experienced) was a contributing factor to the drinking water lines being longer. This maybe also had an impact on the water pressure?
Either way, there are some elements that Silverstone need to look into as the attendance increases. Some people felt the affects this weekend and I imagine it will be the same amount of people next year.
