To our Senegalese fam, from a Moroccan sister.

I’ll be honest, when the game ended part of me felt like it was karma. After everything that happened during AFCON, many of us Moroccans felt hurt and isolated and vilified. It's a shit feeling. So in the heat of the moment it was easy to react emotionally.

But right now, that happiness doesn’t feel right. Seeing Senegalese fans heartbroken, including videos of Sengalese leaving cafés here in Morocco (wearing Moroccan jerseys en plus !!) , reminded me that this is bigger than rivalry. I wanted to wipe the sadness off of every face, go back in time and see you win.

Football should never make us forget who we are. Rivalry is part of the game, but hatred and racism have no place in it. We are all African before anything else, despite what you might think, we actually don't enjoy being excluded. We're so proud of being African. African football only becomes stronger when we stand together. We are underdogs face à de grandes nations du foot, on a tout intérêt à se tirer vers le haut aulieu de se déchirer.

So hard luck to Senegal. You have an incredible team and passionate fans. I truly hope we can leave the bitterness behind and get back to what we used to be. Tight.

Much love from Morocco. 🇲🇦❤️🇸🇳
