Ragging Scenario at MANIT Bhopal (2026) – For Freshers
A lot of students joining Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal this year are understandably concerned about ragging. As your future senior, I wanted to share the actual situation so you can join the college with confidence.
First of all, welcome to MANIT! You are about to start an exciting new chapter of your life, and we’re genuinely happy to have you here.
How the Situation Has Changed
The ragging culture at MANIT today is very different from what you may have heard from older stories or seen in videos from many years ago.
Since the COVID online batches, ragging has reduced significantly. The administration has become very strict, and any serious complaint is taken very seriously.
- There is no physical ragging.
- No senior can harm you physically.
- If you face any genuine issue, you can report it to the administration.
- Your identity will be kept confidential.
- Strict action can be taken against the senior, including suspension.
What Usually Happens Now
The most common thing is.
- Wishing seniors.
- Addressing them as “Sir” or “Ma’am.”
This “Sir/Ma’am culture” is not unique to MANIT. It is also seen in colleges like Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, and even Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Similar practices are common in many medical colleges as well.
Are There Problematic Seniors?
Like any college, there may be a small number of seniors who try to create unnecessary issues. Fortunately, they are very few.
The best strategy is to avoid them and report anything that crosses the line.
Most seniors are genuinely helpful and supportive.
My Personal Experience
I’m currently involved in two student societies, and I was never ragged there even once.
In fact, I met some excellent seniors who have achieved a lot in their careers and have provided valuable guidance and mentorship.
