I am about to turn 29, and I have been thinking about all the things I have and haven’t done so far since I became an adult. One of those things is making a friend.
I have always been socially anxious and introverted, so I had a hard time making friends. All the friends I made when I was young and in school were kids who approached me. I have never made a friend on my own
This has led me to where I am now: a friendless, almost 29-year-old. I do have one school friend that I still WhatsApp, but we haven’t seen one another in over 5 years and only chat now and again.
With that out of the way, the promise I am making myself now is that I want to make one new friend before I turn 30.
I am in no way asking for someone to DM me and say, “Let’s be friends.” Instead, I am looking for places where I could meet like-minded, or even not-so-like-minded, people in Cape Town.
