JBL l52 worth it for small backyard office?
Hi all,
I am looking to start a basic hifi set up in my small backyard office. I'm new to home hifi, and have mostly enjoyed trying to find clubs with great soundsystems (or setups like despacio..). Right now I listen through my monitor (apple studio display) which doesn't sound great.
The office is a converted garden shed that is about 6 ft by 6ft and is very well sound insulated. The floor is cork if that matters with a rug over it. I do think it can get a bit echoey in there (but am open to adding some sort of paneling to some walls to reduce this).
I spend a lot of time in there so the aesthetics matter to me. I was thinking to start with JBL l52s that could sit on the desk on low angled stands (but open to suggestions if these are a bad choice). If it ends up sounding great and working well I can see adding a record player, but would likely start with an amp that can just connect to my computer (mac) to play from there.
I'm in the US and budget is about $2500 USD all in, but happy to spend far less if it's not necessary or can flex up a bit if that would enable a big improvement. I'm most worried about the acoustics of the room (and how close I'd be to the speakers) being a limiting factor. Since I'm doing this in phases, the initial cost can just cover amp and speakers and then can do more down the road for a record player (and if needed upgraded amp). I'd probably prefer to buy new since it's easier.
Would love any advice!
thanks!
