Finally brought home a piece of Karnataka heritage — HMT Gandaberunda 🟥🟨🦅
Being a Kannadiga and a native Bengalurean, owning this piece had been a long-standing wish of mine. My love for my beloved ooru aside, having the royal emblem of Karnataka — the Gandaberunda — on my wrist feels truly special and a matter of pride.
Yes, it may be “just another quartz” to many, but this watch was never about the movement for me — it was about identity, heritage and emotion.
I had especially wanted the steel bracelet variant, but those usually disappear within a day or two. Completely out of the blue, I called the Barton Centre showroom and was told they had exactly one piece left — and fortunately, it was the steel strap version I had been hoping for.
The best part? They pulled this beauty out of an old iron almirah 😁😆 and handed it over. Somehow that moment made it feel less like buying a watch and more like being handed a generational keepsake carrying a small piece of Karnataka’s heritage.
