Price Check: Empty 2006 Ford E250 with Rebuilt Transmission for $7500

Hi all, I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on this. I'm really really tempted to pull the trigger after months of searching, and this is the closest I could find albeit for a bit more than I was hoping.

It's got a rebuilt transmission with only 8k miles on it, front brakes fully replaced, inside didn't look rusty, underside had a very very small amount of rust. 176k miles in total. Has some electrical problem with the locks but I can pretty easily diagnose that myself. Looking to do a build out but this is a bit more than I was hoping to initially spend on just the van. Does this feel about right price wise? I was thinking about trying to haggle down to $6500 but I was worried about seeming unreasonable.

I recently got rear ended in my 2005 Toyota corolla. The car still functions perfectly fine but there was some body cosmetic damage. Due to the car being fairly cheap, just the cost to fix the minor damage + labor was enough to make the opposing insurance company to deem it as a total loss. This means I need to get a salvage title.

My parents led me to believe there's no issues with driving a car with a salvage title. So I kept the car instead of giving it to the insurance company. I only now found out from googling that you can't get insurance for a vehicle with a salvage title nor are you allowed to drive it without a trip permit, despite it being in perfectly fine condition.

Has anyone had experience with this? I read some things. about getting a branded title but am having trouble finding anything regarding the process for that or if I qualify. Is any of my googling wrong? Thanks.
