1st phase programming question (dumb but need to ask)

I've been studying for my CTS and just want to get a clear understanding of what Phase 1 actually is. I'm a little confused. If programming the first part don't you need to know what type of equipment you need first before you can begin programming?

According to AVIXA, it seems like after programming, you design the system. Am I misunderstanding the term "programming" and not connecting the dots correctly in this context?

Thanks again! stupid question but how else will I learn!!

Crestron MPC4-102-B gang box suggestions

We’ve installed a few of these devices, and we’ve noticed that the cables tend to get a pretty hard bend once everything is screwed into place. For those of you who have installed these, what has worked best for you? Do you recommend using a deeper gang box, or maybe a 2-gang box with a 2 to 1 gang reducer?

We’d mainly like to give the cables a little more room and avoid putting unnecessary stress on them. All of our button panels are surface mounted.

Just looking to hear what others have done and what’s worked well for you in the field.

AV Consultant

So I’m looking for input from people who actually work as AV consultants.

What exactly is your role, and what are the pros and cons of the job?

I’ve had meetings with consultants before, and it seems like they’re mostly involved in the design phase. They hand the AV integrator a list of equipment for each room, and then the integrator’s engineers make it all work, meaning the engineers I've worked with draw up the schematics and such.

What else is involved in the role, and what does your typical daily work/life look like? I ask because I'd like to get better understanding and possibly pursue that position.

Hi all, I’ve been looking for a small form-factor DSP. something with 1–2 inputs and 1–2 outputs, along with an interface for EQ. I’ve come across Biamp and Shure DSPs, which look great, and we may end up going that route, especially since some models include AEC. I’m open to other suggestions, particularly if there are more cost-effective options out there
