How do you display patches you're not ready to sew on yet?
I've got a growing pile of patches sitting in a shoebox that I love but don't have a jacket or bag committed to yet, and it's starting to feel wasteful just leaving them stuffed in there. Right now I've got maybe 40 patches from national parks, a few band ones from shows I went to in my twenties, and a handful of trade ones from a scouting group my uncle was part of decades ago.
I tried pinning some to a corkboard but the pin holes bug me, and I don't want to iron anything down until I'm sure of the layout. A friend suggested one of those canvas patch display boards with the loop backing, which sounds decent but I've read mixed things about how well patches actually grip on those over time, especially heavier ones with a lot of embroidery.
Curious what everyone else does in the "in-between" phase. Do you frame them under glass, use a hanging felt board, or just accept the shoebox life until you commit to a jacket? Also open to hearing how you all organize by theme versus by acquisition date, because mine are currently just chronological and it's making it hard to see patterns in what I actually collect.
