Hey defence industry folks,

It's that time of the year where I'm looking to change shirts and add a new water bottle to my collection. I keep seeing job ads and getting unsolicited messages on linkedin about jobs in the industry.

While I am quite familiar with working for one of the big primes, I am quite unsure about consultancies like Nova Systems, Downer, Bastion, etc.

Compared to primes, the benefits look too good to be true- higher $$$, PD allowance, etc. But there's always a catch. I've heard mixed reviews from my senior colleagues and I wanted to see what everyone's experience working for the non-primes was like. Should I be wary about them, are there good companies, are there terrible companies?
