Moved from Windows 11 to Debian
I have been on Debian for about 3 weeks now. I chose to go with the NetInst amd ZERO interfaces, just the standard apps and thats it. I wanted a NO BLOAT installation.
I ended up using labwc bundled with sfwbar, swaybg, thunar, firefox and foot as a base. I spent 1 whole week trying to use wine and other blends of it from proton to crossover without any success on installing Microsoft Office 2010, 2016 and 2021. I resorted to usw my old copy of Office 2007. I never got passed the 50% mark of 2010 and never made it further than entering the key on 2016 to be blocked because my key does not match the runnable iso I found which only accepts Pro Plus keys while I have a home and buisiness key all thanks to Click 2 Run. I actually just need PowerPoint because of some important autisric presentations I made using proprietary Microsoft PowerPoint whatevers. But since it works now, might as well use word and excel too under wine.
I am finally getting back control of my PC which I am very happy of. I can decide what stays and what does not amd sfwbar's author has made huge progress on his app. LBCrion on github has added super features and resolved many bugs. I now have a taskbar looking more like a dock without adding hordes of RAM usage.
I went from a 4Gb base Windows RAM usage to 800Mb on Debian with the basics I wrote above. I finally get to use my system resources for other apps and games.
I've already made a very specific config file for keyd which is available on github to finally use the built-in ALT+Keypad ascii codes on Linux.
I just wanted to introduce myself to this new world I am now part of.
