The best keyboard I have tried so far..HHKB
I have tried so many keyboards and mices…
Logitech MX — linear, tactile
Keychron low-profile — linear, tactile
Keychron high-profile — linear, tactile
I was about to order a Lofree, but then I came across HHKB and saw how much everyone loved HHKB Topre keyboards. I was confused about whether to buy the HHKB Studio or the Hybrid Type-S, especially since they cost almost double the price of any decent keyboard.
I also saw the frustration people had with the Studio not having Topre switches, but guess what? I ordered both — the Studio for the mouse buttons and the Hybrid Type-S for the Topre experience.
The Hybrid Type-S arrived first, and I fell in love with it the moment I started typing on it. That’s when I realized I had always been missing something while typing, but I could never figure out what it was. Topre finally gave a name to the typing feel I had been looking for all this time.
Sound is not a major concern for me as long as it’s not too loud. My main priority was fast productivity. And easy to type. (I used low profile mx mechanical as my main before. So I was skeptical about high finger movements)
And honestly, the HHKB layout helped with speed too. Since it was my first time using the HHKB layout, I went with the Snow White version so I wouldn’t struggle with remembering the Fn layer.
It took me about 2–3 hours, and my hands already learned the arrow keys and function keys. I’m still getting used to the Backspace placement, though.
I’d say everyone should try this keyboard at least once and experience what Topre feels like. Maybe order it from Amazon for the easy return policy.
If anyone wondering what that trackball is- Its Ploppy Adept and Ploppy nano
Thanks for the read.
