Victorian teachers are to be the best paid in Australia. A union rebellion helped seal the deal

This details the socialist-led union rank and file union rebellion that helped push through 2 successful no votes, securing a better (but still not ideal offer)! It’s an inspiring example of the role socialists can play in pushing forward union struggles:

Election Launch

The state election in Victoria is going to be a massively contested battleground between the insurgent far-right One Nation, the eroding major parties and the Victorian Socialists. VS is running a candidate in every metropolitan seat in Melbourne and numerous regional seats. Recent campaigns like Socialist in Schools have played an established role and instrumental role in successful vote No campaign in the AEU https://www.theguardian.com/politics/blog/live/2026/jul/26/australia-news-live-politics-pauline-hanson-ed-husic-anthony-albanese-labor-party-conference-bird-flu-ntwnfb (today in the Guardian). The party has campaigned to delay closures of Co Health clinics across Melbourne, and have led successful campaigns in solidarity with Palestine, the Socialists Workers Caucus, and anti-fascist street demonstrations. Getting a few socialists elected would be a huge boon for the left and represent a real opportunity to amplify and boost our various campaigns. Come to our launch this Saturday coming! https://www.victoriansocialists.org.au/events/2247

Keep striking! Don’t let the AEU wind up the fight

We have organised an emergency meeting for tomorrow night in response to the AEU leadership’s disgraceful decision to call off the rolling regional stop-works. The state government is rattled by our first strike last month, now's the time to keep fighting with more serious strikes, not give up the fight. We dont even have a formal offer on the table, and everything we've heard from the government, including the 28% so-called "pay rise," has not been good enough. Join us tomorrow at 6.30pm to discuss why this has happened & what we can do about it.

Just message the Socialists In Schools

page.
